Job Title: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Primary Purpose:
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer for the school; responsible for management
and oversight of all affairs of the school to include day-to-day operations, strategic direction,
programmatic oversight, internal management, external affairs and fundraising; perform general
and specific duties as prescribed by the Board of Directors and as may be required by law; lead
and provide the vision for El Paso Academy Charter School to attain higher level of excellence
and enhance its level of external visibility.
Key Responsibilities:
The Executive Director works collaboratively with the members of the Board of Directors to develop
policy for the organization and implement strategic direction. The Executive Director provides information
to and communicates with the Board about the status of internal and external issues affecting El Paso Academy.
The Executive Director works with the Board to attract and develop new Board members,
and volunteers; ensures all Board members and volunteers are appreciated, engaged, and energized
by their association with El Paso Academy.
The Executive Director is responsible for assuring excellence in school programs and providing leadership
in the implementation of the organization’s vision and strategy into new programs with clearly
defined priorities, action plans, achievable outcomes, and milestones.
Responsible for overseeing the development of the annual budget in coordination with the Board of Directors,
Business Manager, and campus administrators; presents for final approval and responsible for the
implementation of the budget; maintains on-going communication regarding financial decisions with
the Finance Committee and/or
Board of Directors; oversees the preparation of monthly financial reports;
oversees the reporting
of financial data to appropriate reporting agencies; oversees all financial transactions including
payroll; responsible for annual audit and annual report; ensures the financial integrity of the organization
by practicing sound financial oversight.
Oversees the selection and overall effectiveness and efficiency of administrators, faculty and staff;
provides alignment and integration of individual, campus and organizational goals to
ensure there is appropriate internal communication. Initiates personnel actions such as reprimands,
suspensions and terminations, and oversees investigations of personnel matters. Oversees
annual evaluation process of all personnel; oversees the development and maintenance of
job descriptions, and personnel policies and procedures; in charge of the grievance procedures.
Responsible for the assignment and supervision of all personnel; insures all teachers are highly qualified,
certified and have individual professional development plans. Coordinates and oversees
staff development and training; conducts regular staff meetings. Assures all programs meet
Texas Education Agency requirements. Oversees school data reporting systems; classroom,
general school, and DOE required data.
As the representative and ambassador of the organization to donors, volunteers, alumni,
the community at-large, and media, the Executive Director is responsible for communications
that educate and inspire external stakeholders about El Paso Academy’s vision and programs.
The Executive Director is responsible for the development and execution of a fundraising plan;
works closely with the Board in solicitation efforts.
Qualifications:
Must be a proven leader and visionary; able to demonstrate immediate credibility;
must possess strong communication and diplomatic skills to inspire and motivate
all stakeholders, including, Board, volunteers, staff, donors, and community about
the mission of El Paso Academy.
Must be effective at managing within budgets; experience in fundraising; proactive and results-oriented;
possess demonstrated leadership experience in the management of an organization related to education,
i.e., head or senior staff of an independent or charter school; individuals from the private sector
will be given consideration providing they possess the requisite skill base and possess familiarity
with charter school educational issues.
Education/Certification:
A Bachelor’s degree in Education and/or Business Administration is required, a Master’s degree
is preferred, or equivalent experience.

prolonged and irregular hours.
